COMP Cams Valve Locks 11/32in Single Groove COMP Cams Valve Locks 11/32in Single Groove COMP Cams lock angle and 11/32" valve stem size is a perfect replacement lock for stock engine rebuilds. It is recommended only for street Applications with lighter valve spring loads. It is critically important to make sure valve locks match the valve size. There should always be a small gap between the two halves of the lock when they are properly positioned on the valve stem. If the two halves fit together without a gap, they are too large. If the locks fit tight to the stem and leave a gap between the middle of the lock and the OD of the stem, the locks are too small. Most people believe that the tang inside a valve lock Oldsmobile the retainer and valve spring in place while the engine is running. This is not the case. The cross-section of material in the tang is not strong enough to withstand open spring loads of 1000 lbs. or more. The sole purpose of the tang is to temporarily locate the lock, retainer and spring relative to the valve until the taper of the retainer can nest around the outside surface of the lock. This creates a "collet" effect that binds the two together. The more spring force exerted on the retainer (as the valve opens), the more force applied by the "collet" effect to keep the retainer and lock in place. This Part Fits: Year Make Model Submodel 1982 Buick Century Custom 1982 Buick Century Limited 1980-1981 Buick Skylark Base 1980-1981 Buick Skylark Limited 1980-1981 Buick Skylark Sport 1982-1986 Chevrolet Camaro Sport 1962-1963,1965-1967 Chevrolet Chevy II Base 1962-1963,1965-1968 Chevrolet Chevy II Nova 1980-1981 Chevrolet Citation Base 1980 Chevrolet Citation Club 1980 Chevrolet Citation Custom 1980-1981 Chevrolet Citation X-11 1978-1980 Chevrolet Monza 2+2 1978-1980 Chevrolet Monza 2+2 Sport 1978-1980 Chevrolet Monza 2+2 Spyder 1978-1980 Chevrolet Monza Base 1978-1979 Chevrolet Monza S 1978 Chevrolet Monza Sport 1980 Chevrolet Monza Spyder 1969 Chevrolet Nova Base 1982 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera Base 1982 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera LS 1980-1981 Oldsmobile Omega Base 1980-1981 Oldsmobile Omega Brougham 1981 Oldsmobile Omega ES 1981 Oldsmobile Omega Sport 1980-1981 Oldsmobile Omega SX 1978-1980 Oldsmobile Starfire Base 1978-1980 Oldsmobile Starfire Firenza 1978-1980 Oldsmobile Starfire GT 1978-1980 Oldsmobile Starfire SX 1982-1989 Pontiac 6000 Base 1982-1989 Pontiac 6000 LE 1977 Pontiac Astre Base 1977 Pontiac Astre Safari 1984-1985 Pontiac Fiero Base 1984-1987 Pontiac Fiero SE 1984-1988 Pontiac Fiero Sport 1986-1988 Pontiac Fiero Value Leader 1982-1986 Pontiac Firebird Base 1982-1984 Pontiac Firebird S/E 1985-1988 Pontiac Grand Am Base 1985-1989 Pontiac Grand Am LE 1987 Pontiac Grand Am SE 1977-1978,1980-1984 Pontiac Phoenix Base 1984 Pontiac Phoenix LE 1978,1980-1983 Pontiac Phoenix LJ 1978 Pontiac Phoenix SJ 1977-1980 Pontiac Sunbird Base 1978-1979 Pontiac Sunbird Safari 1977 Pontiac Ventura Base
